Tutoring
Who
I tutor primary aged children from 4-11.
I tutor school and home-educated children. I also work with children dealing with EBSNA or those receiving EOTAS.
Where
Tuition will take place in your own home.
I am based in Merrow, Guildford and travel to surrounding areas.
What
Sessions can focus on one specific subject area or I can cover multiple areas of the curriculum, depending on your child’s needs and goals.
I use a variety of different resources and activities to make sessions engaging and hands-on.
Curriculum areas
I support children with their learning throughout any stage of their primary education and sessions are carefully tailored to each learner. Whether your child is looking for more support with phonics, early reading and number sense in KS1, or they’re looking to be challenged with more advanced mathematics and comprehension in year 6, I can deliver practical and engaging sessions to ensure progression across all key curriculum areas.
Phonics
- Phase 2, 3 and 5 sounds
- Tricky words
- Applying phonics knowledge to reading and writing
- Year 1 phonics screening
- Real/alien words
Maths
- Experience across both key stages and was previously maths-lead
- From number recognition, pattern awareness and number bonds in EYFS, to dividing fractions and algebra in year 6
- Manipulatives used for every learner to support understanding
Writing
- Structural – Letter formation and handwriting
- Spelling – tricky words to more complex spelling rules and patterns
- Composition – Creative writing for different purposes and audiences
- SPaG – understanding and applying different grammatical features
Reading
- From early reading and word recognition to supporting learners to become fluent free readers with strong comprehension skills
- Inference, prediction, vocabulary, summarising and other reading skills
